You need a new one every time you pull off a valve cover to set your valve lash. Our silicone gaskets last much longer and can be used over and over for years of use. Cork gaskets are also very stiff and un-compressible. Many folks have deformed their valve covers trying to over-tighten a cork gasket so it won't leak, making the situation even worse. These silicone gaskets are much softer, they will provide a proper seal without over-tightening your valve cover bolts.
